It simply means "To change mind". And forgiveness comes first, followed by repentance. It has become all about avoiding 'sin' - which in fact usually makes it worse. This sums it up for me: "On the contrary, we realize that, even with our imperfections, God accepts us just the way we are". Christianity was never meant to be a religion in my view. Unfortunately it has become one, because man likes to make everything into something he can control. But Jesus came to abolish religion, and the religionists killed him for it. I think the word religion means to bind. Yet Christ came to set the captives free not create more captives. However, as you stated in the article, when I quit worrying about sin all the time (as I did in my conservative days) it is amazing how much good I actually end up doing.
